I have been photographing weddings, and only weddings, in a casual, candid, fashion-oriented style, for 13 years with my award-winning photography studio, Faith West Photography. My images of real weddings have been published in national magazines including Martha Stewart Weddings, Modern Bride, and The Knot, and will soon appear in Elegant Bride. I have also had “real weddings” published in Wedding Bells New York, The Knot New York, New Jersey Bride, The Knot Pennsylvania, Brides Philadelphia, and The Knot New Jersey, and am eight-time first prize winner in the wedding photography contest sponsored by Philadelphia Weddings.

Before photographing weddings, I was an assistant to various fashion and commercial photographers throughout New York City. This is where I learned my craft, honing hmy ideas about the casual, candid look that an unobtrusive photographer can provide to a wedding day. I feel strongly that this approach captures the true emotions and passion of the couple and their wedding day.

Never one to stay still, I recently invented the idea of combining high-definition stills and video into one DVD album. I noticed that many clients were resistant to putting a lot of images in their book-style albums, for fear that the album would be too bulky for the coffee table, or too heavy to put on a plane and take to relatives. Yet typical candid coverage of a wedding encompasses at least 800 images, so a lot is lost in the editing down to a smallish album just for portability’s sake. I also noticed a tendency on the part of my clients to prefer looking at their images on their computer screens (since we do give clients a digital copy of all high-resolution still images, and do not keep the copyright). The idea for a still/video album naturally flowed out of these observations of client needs and behavior.

Faith is proud to partner with video industry leader Dave Williams, of DVideography, as the primary editor of west photo video.

Currently, I live in Philadelphia with my partner, Michael, and our cat, Pumpkin.
